The Art of improvisation and composition - Intensive workshop for Tamalpa level 2 graduates

In this workshop we would like to deepen our understanding of movement technique and improvisation skills to increase our expressive capacities and discover new layers of creative possibilities.

We will take time to re-visit the basics of movement : body,time and space, in order to get a refined connection with our instrument, and engage with a wider range of movement vocabulary into our improvisations. In solo, duet or ensemble work, we will cultivate our improvisational mind set and keep on exploring how to improvise with a greater sense of freedom. We will exercice our mind to find the right balance between a complete state of letting go and a strong sense of focus, allowing the dancers to deepen their awareness of what is happening in the moment in order to make conscious choices.

After getting tuned in our dancing skills and ability to improvise, we will play with the tools of the RSVP cycles to loose ourselves in the mysterious process of creating Scores. Scores are often seen as something « we » mentally  create, but they can also be the results of processes that make them become unpredictable and surprising.

 Pedagogical goals :
- deepening our movement skills and movement vocabulary : movement qualities, center and extremity, momentum, weight and gravity, contact.

- widening our improvisation skills : rhythm, space, repetition, development. 

- refining our capacity to compose while improvising : focus, support, counter-point, developing dramaturgy.

- playing with the RSVP cycles
